چکیده

I propose a model of mutually interacting particles on an M -dimensional unit sphere. I derive the dynamics of the particles by extending the dynamics of the Kuramoto–Sakaguchi model. The dynamics include a natural-frequency matrix, which determines the motion of a particle with no external force, and an external force vector. The position (state variable) of a particle at a given time is obtained by the projection transformation of the initial position of the particle. The same projection transformation gives the position of the particles with the same naturalfrequency matrix. I show that the motion of the centre of mass of an infinite number of heterogeneous particles whose natural-frequency matrices are obtained from a class of multivariate Lorentz distribution is given by an M -dimensional ordinary differential equation in closed form. This result is an extension of the Ott–Antonsen theory. PACS numbers: 05.45.Xt,05.65.+b Submitted to: New J. Phys.

A Numerical Study on Agglomeration in High Temperature Fluidized beds

Soft-sphere discrete element method (DEM) and Navier-Stokes equations were coupled with equations of energy for gas and solids to investigate the process of agglomeration in fluidized bed of polyethylene particles at high temperature. The Newton’s second law of motion was adapted for translational and rotational motion of particles and agglomerates. The cohesive force for polyethylene particles...

Memory function for collective diffusion of interacting Brownian particles

– The problem of memory contribution to the collective diffusion coefficient of interacting Brownian particles is considered. A well-defined theoretical expression for this contribution, free of divergent integrals, is derived. Its value is then estimated for hard sphere suspensions numerically by means of extensive computer simulations. A good physical model for a broad class of suspensions is...

Designing Solvable Graphs for Multiple Moving Agents

Solvable Graphs (also known as Reachable Graphs) are types of graphs that any arrangement of a specified number of agents located on the graph’s vertices can be reached from any initial arrangement through agents’ moves along the graph’s edges, while avoiding deadlocks (interceptions). In this paper, the properties of Solvable Graphs are investigated, and a new concept in multi agent moti...

Macroscopic models of collective motion and self-organization

In this paper, we review recent developments on the derivation and properties of macroscopic models of collective motion and self-organization. The starting point is a model of self-propelled particles interacting with its neighbors through alignment. We successively derive a mean-field model and its hydrodynamic limit. The resulting macroscopic model is the Self-Organized Hydrodynamics (SOH). ...

Correlation effects and their influence on line broadening in plasmas: Application to Ha

In the last two decades, several computational approaches for the Stark broadening in plasmas have been developed, where the motion of both ions and electrons is simulated and their fields are approximated by using an effective DebyeeYukawa potential. This approximation, in general, should be questioned when the number of plasma particles in the Debye sphere is about unity or below. For testing...
